Are we humans too smart for our own good?

We can adapt of practically any environment, and if we can't, we change the environment to our liking. We seem like the most invasive species of them all. The only reason why there are invasive species if because we introduced them. I've heard that at the rate at which we destroy ecosystems, we're the worst thing to happen to the Earth since a mountain-size meteorite lammed into it 65 MYA. I'm no tree hugger, but I just thought it's something interesting to consider.
